We started 2020 thinking it would be similar to our past years. We would do similar events and hopefully help more people at those events as we grow. Boy, were we wrong!
This year made us think outside the box and learn to do things in completely new ways to make sure we helped the people who needed it most and that we helped them safely. We learned how to make masks for healthcare workers when PPE was short, worked with local restaurants to provide meals to healthcare workers on the frontlines, had groceries delivered to single moms who relied on free or reduced lunch from schools, successfully held our Back To School event with a contactless method during a Hurricane scare, fed 500 families for Thanksgiving with another drive through event and sponsored 5 families for Christmas who were hit hard by the pandemic, and many behind the scenes things to protect the identity of those we help.
We’ve also grown in new ways this year! We had our first media appearances and interviews, we made the news, we became 501(c)3 and obtained our first corporate sponsorships!
It’s been quite the journey and the most beautiful part about it is that we are only getting started. This year has truly shown us what is possible when people come together and choose kindness. You have supported us and made all of this possible. Without you, this doesn’t work and we never take that for granted. We know that with your continued support we will be even bigger next year. With your help we will launch our mentorship program, we will launch our food pantry, we will eventually get to a place where we can provide free housing for single parents in need, and SO much more. We will do all this while still being fully transparent about where your money is going and how you’re helping.
